I went to the doctor the other day. The result on the scale wasn't pretty. While at the mall the following day, I tried on a dress. The result got uglier.
March just started. There are three months until the Belmont Stakes. There are four and a half months or so until Saratoga. While it's not going to be enough time to lose as much as I want, I think there is enough to work with that, if I am diligent, I can shed a decent amount before these markers. Let's take a look at some significant dates.
Belmont Stakes - June 5
Saratoga Opening Day - July 23
Travers Stakes - August 28
So there are three months until 1. There is about a month and a half between 1 and 2. There's a month after 2 until 3. Anybody know of realistic goals? Any way I can do 20 pounds by the Belmont stakes? I don't know. My long range goal is currently set at 40. If I can get there, I'll look into doing the final 10. It's time to explore the things that will have to go into this.
Exercise
I have my Wii Fit. At this point I am so out of shape, both mentally and physically, that it will suffice. Mentally, I am unwilling to let people see me physically struggling with exercise. Doing something from the safety of my own home is the way to go. Every day for a half hour sounds good, upping it to an hour when I have more time on the weekends.
In a perfect world, I am also going to pick up riding again. Now that the weather is looking to be on the upswing, it's time to start looking into it more. Too bad it costs money.
Diet
This is the big one. I have to break it down into breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I know this isn't good, but I am going to be lenient on the weekends (Monday and Tuesday for me, remember). I think that's the only way to keep me to it during the week, and 5 out of 7 days of being good isn't bad. I'll just make sure I don't really go crazy on the weekends, just a bit more indulgent to satisfy the cravings. Plus, if I do the extra exercise on the weekends, it's okay. Yeah?
Here are some of the foods I am willing to use for my weekday dieting.
Breakfast (this is hard, being that I need it to be grab-and-go friendly to eat at work)
Yogurt (particularly Yoplait's Honey Vanilla Greek Yogurt, it's double protein!)
Cereal
Lunch (also has to be work friendly)
FiberOne (I need the fiber, this is a daily thing) granola with...
Grapes
Turkey
Ham
Dinner (this is a struggle, as I don't cook here, so limited to microwavable)
Soup and veggie
Salad and veggie
Healthy Choice
Lean Cuisine
Snacks (can be used to supplement any meal if I'm still hungry, or just as needed)
Applesauce
Pudding cups
Popsicle
This is all I have for now. If you know me and/or think you know of some other good ideas for my menu, please let me know. Until then, thanks for baring with me! I'll be keeping track here of what I eat and if I exercise. Yell at me if I jump off my eating wagon or don't move my fat ass!

The most important thing in the world is not to crash diet anything. You can't cut from 1,800 calories a day to 800 and expect your body to cooperate. You should make some little goals about stuff you will cut out, even on the "weekend." Not "sugar" since that's not possible, but something more realistic - like cupcakes are okay (1 a week), but candy isn't. Something that will work for you.
ReplyDeleteI know you don't have money, but strongly look into getting Wii Fit PLUS. The plus section has a calorie helper that tells you how much you are actually burning, and encourages you to meet a goal. It's really helped me, because I can run for 30 minutes on there and go "oh geez I'm only burning 65 calories" instead of doing that and thinking, "Now I deserve two brownies." But, it doesn't set it up for you in a way that is "Burn 200 calories today", instead, it is "burn an ice cream cone today." It also has specific groupings of exercises to do targeting an issue you may have - I use the "overindulged" one often!
I don't really have any pointers for you, other than to write everything down... which you are obviously doing! So I am commenting only to say that I will be a cheerleader for you!
ReplyDeleteRa Ra! You can do it! And if you can lose...28 pounds by the time I get to Saratoga (which is a wild card because I don't know exactly when that'll be) I will buy you as much calorie rich alcohol as you can drink in one night!
How's that for incentive!? Booooooze! And I promise to buy plenty for myself, also, and leave you a hiccup rich voicemail.
